  NHMLAC-Laying Out the Plesiosaur

  In 2008, PFP began work with the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County (NHMLAC) to restore and remount various specimens in their Vertebrate Paleontology and Dinosaur Institute collections. PFP prepared the Plesiosaur specimen, which includes embryonic material.  The intended display is in a plaque mount as it was found at excavation.

  In 2008, PFP began work with the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County (NHMLAC) to restore and remount various specimens in their Vertebrate Paleontology and Dinosaur Institute collections. Working under scientific guidance, PFP preparators prepared and restored the museum’s Triceratops, which was recovered with a rare articulated forearm. Photographic documentation and molding work were completed on this specimen in order to explore its scientific significance prior to the start of mounting work.

  NHMLAC-Cast Juvenile T.rex Interactive

  A replica of NHMLAC’s existing Juvenile T.rex specimen, the interactive was molded and cast from the actual fossil material. Its mount is similar in style to that of the other mounts currently being fabricated for the museum. Some elements were consolidated for ease in connecting the cast elements to the mount. This interactive puzzle enables museum visitors to participate in the articulation of a Tyrannosaurus rex.
